2 Interesting quotation from Mahatma Gandhi

Man often becomes what he believes himself to be.  If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end up by really becoming incapable of doing it.

If I shall have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning.

Very powerful quotation indeed. Nothing is impossible if we keep trying and pray. Ora et Labora

Keep Learning

This morning, I read a very interesting quotation from “the naladiyar”, an ancient text:

Learning is the best of all wealth; it is easy to carry; thieves cannot steal it, and tyrants cannot seize it; neither fire nor water can destroy it; and far from decreasing, it increases by giving

It is very powerful and encouraging. I still remember how I feel when I was in elementary school. I always wanted to get done with school and learning so that I can have some fun and do nothing. But now, after I graduated from college, I found out that there are a lot of things you can do after college. Interestingly, all of them involve learning and I enjoy it so much. Really, searching and learning is where the miracle process all begins

Change the World

Interesting quotation from one Anglican bishop written on his tomb in Westminster Abbey:

“When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world.  As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.

“But it, too, seemed immovable.

“As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.

“And now as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize:  If I had only changed myself first, then by example I would have changed my family.

From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to better my country and, who knows, I may have even changed the world.”

Never Give Up!

Does anyone remember Michael Jordan commercial? You see him striding through the back hallways of the stadium where he was a part of the world champion Chicago Bulls basketball team.  And then you hear Michael say, “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my life.  I’ve lost over 300 games.  Thirty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot … and missed.  I have failed over and over again in my life.  And that is why … I SUCCEED!”

In essence, Michael was saying, “It’s okay to fail.  It’s not okay to give up.”
